How to Reduce Cuticle Growth at Home: Top 3 Effective Methods

The perfect manicure is not only about a smooth, chip-free, and streak-free polish but also about well-groomed cuticles, which give the hands a neat and tidy appearance. To ensure the nail technician’s efforts don’t go to waste, remember some simple and effective ways to take extra care of your cuticles at home.
Modern, high-quality gel polishes and proper application techniques allow the manicure to last up to 4 weeks. However, much sooner the hands can start to look unkempt — and it’s not the gel polish’s fault.
The reason is the cuticle, which begins to grow back actively about a week after treatment, spoiling the manicure’s appearance. Regular home hand care procedures will help extend the manicure’s freshness. Here are simple recipes that, when used consistently, slow down cuticle growth and keep your manicure looking perfect longer.
Soak to Reduce Cuticle Growth
Mix a few drops of apricot or peach oil with a teaspoon of mild liquid soap and a glass of water. Soak your fingers in this solution for 30 minutes. If the cuticles have grown significantly, you can increase the time up to 40 minutes. Repeat this procedure daily for 10 days, then once a week for maintenance.
Iodine Rubs
Mix 8–10 drops of iodine with 20 ml of any oil. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is uniform. Gently rub the mixture into the nail plate and cuticle until fully absorbed. It is recommended to do this daily for 10 days, then once a week to maintain the effect.
Oil Mixture
Mix 1 tablespoon of wheat germ oil or apricot oil with 2 drops of lavender essential oil and 3 drops of tea tree oil. Apply the mixture to the cuticles and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then gently massage the oil into the skin. Perform this procedure daily for 10 days, then twice a week to maintain the result.
