What is important to ask a nail technician before a manicure: a guarantee of quality results
Very often, when we make an appointment for a manicure, we focus on just a few factors: the location of the salon, the skill of the specialist and the price. But let's be honest - almost always we forget about one of the most important aspects directly affecting the health of our nails and skin. It's about cleanliness and safety, of course.
A good salon is not only beautiful designs, but also strict compliance with sanitary norms. It must necessarily have a dry heat cabinet (dry fire) for sterilisation of instruments. Each client should receive an individual set of files and accessories to eliminate the risk of infection.
In addition, the masters are obliged to use antiseptics and special means for skin treatment in case of accidental cuts or microtraumas.
Instruments that are not heat-treated can be a source of dangerous infections transmitted through blood and other fluids. The person carrying the infection may not even be aware of their illness, putting the health of others at risk. . However, the presence of a drying cabinet alone does not guarantee that the salon's staff really do prioritise client safety.
Sometimes the drying cabinet is used to demonstrate hygiene to studio guests rather than for its intended purpose. And there are times when staff simply don't know how many instruments can be effectively sterilised in a single cycle.
A dry heater cannot be compact in principle: units with a single shelf and a small chamber volume are designed for home use only. They barely fit one or two pairs of instruments, and the sterilisation process itself takes about two hours. In the conditions of salon load, such models, even the most affordable and popular, are simply ineffective.
In many cases, in an attempt to save time, masters load more instruments into the dryer than prescribed by the norms. However, if the steriliser is overfilled, it is impossible to ensure quality treatment - especially for instruments that are in the bottom layer under pressure from the others.
If you come to a new salon, politely ask the receptionist to explain and show you the process of sterilising your instruments. Believe me, this is very important - after all, your health directly depends on compliance with these rules. If you notice at least one of the violations, it is a serious reason to think about choosing another salon.
In addition, pay attention to how the masters work: whether they use gloves.
. If you do not see gloves, it means that specialists are endangering not only clients, but also themselves, because the contact ‘skin to skin’ can lead to the transmission of various infections.
Remember: even the most beautiful manicure is not worth the health risks. Choose salons where safety is not a formality, but a priority.
